A Writing Retreat for Teacher-Writers

Friday, January 12 - Monday January 15, 2017

You nurture your student writers. Let us nurture you.

Are you currently working on a story, essay, novel or memoir? Do you have an idea, but need time, space and inspiration to get started? Want to write, but you’re not sure what to write about? Looking to join a cohort of other teacher-writers to share work?

Join us for four days of serenity and writing at The Carey Institute for Global Good, overlooking Lake Myosotis in beautiful Rensselaerville, NY. This retreat offers unstructured, peaceful time to write, surrounded by nature and away from everyday stresses and demands. Daily workshopping sessions afford the opportunity to receive productive feedback on your work. An idea lab and writing craft materials are available, and you may choose to share work aloud at our evening readings. We will also examine how our retreat work can inform our classroom practice.

Each writer will have a private room and writing space, three delicious meals a day and snacks, and use of common areas for writing activities, sharing work and socializing. Nearby trails offer stream and waterfall vistas, and opportunities for hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.

No pen, no ink, no room, no time, no quiet, no inclination.
