At Poughkeepsie Day School every child is an honored student
At Poughkeepsie Day School we are serious about learning. We value children for who they are and we respect and nurture every child’s amazing capacity to learn and grow. Our program is academically challenging because it is grounded by the joy of learning that every child brings to school.
Every child is an individual on a unique journey. We support and encourage that journey by providing a caring community dedicated to growth, respect and learning. We expect every student to set ambitious personal horizons. We hold ourselves accountable to do our very best to help every student do theirs.

NYSAIS Athletic Association
The mission of New York State interscholastic athletic programs is to foster the quest for excellence by creating an educational and competitive experience within an atmosphere of sportsmanship. Successful programs develop individual and team potential by promoting high standards of competence, character, civility, and citizenship.
All good schools continually evaluate their performance by means of their own devising. Without evaluation an institution ossifies, and in a changing world it loses its meaning for society. But the view a school takes of itself needs periodically to be supplemented by an external view, one that brings a perspective the school cannot command.
