For students  The following organizations work with students of color in the NY/NY metro area. Some are involved in admissions.  All provide some type of support for students and could be used as a resource for families of color and teachers in independent schools.

At YES we are guided by our goal of creating a Community of Inclusion for everyone who comes to our program

  • Swirl, Inc. is an anti-racist, grassroots organization that serves the mixed heritage community and aims to develop a national consciousness around mixed heritage issues to empower members to organize and take action towards progressive social change.   • The TEAK Fellowship helps talented New York City students from low-income families gain admission to and succeed at top high schools and colleges. Along with academic support, TEAK provides leadership training, exposure to the arts and outdoors, mentoring, career experience, and assistance with the high school and college application processes. www.teakfellowship.org
