Profile

Founded in 1884, the American Kennel Club and its affiliated organizations advocate

for dogs as family companions, advance canine health and well-being, work to

protect the rights of all dog owners and promote responsible dog ownership. The

AKC’s Public Education Program teaches and promotes safety around dogs, basic

canine care and explain how to ever-strengthen the invaluable human-canine bond.

Our new dog-themed lesson plans, provided to educators free of charge, offer an

interesting and exciting way to cover national standards in the classroom while

allowing students learn about dogs. Plans are available in mathematics, science,

history, art, and language arts/English and can be found on our website here:

www.akc.org/public-education/teacher- resources/; answer keys can be requested

from publiced@akc.org.
