3:15 - 4:00       NY State Paid Family Leave

Even with January 1st right around the corner, there is still a lot of confusion with regard to the New York State Paid Family Leave and the interpretation of the regulations has been changing on a regular basis.  As a result, Austin’s PFL Team met with an attorney from the Workers’ Compensation Board last week to clarify some of the outstanding questions we had that relate specifically to our education clients.  Katrina Papa will be sharing a high-level overview of what we have learned to date and what you need to know for January 1st

Katrina Papa and James Sidford, Austin and Co.

4:00 - 5:00       Tax Reform Has Finally Arrived!  Update Time to Prepare For the Rollercoaster Ride Ahead

We will review the two versions set forth by Congress, the House bill H.R. 1 and the Senate’s version of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and the provisions in them of importance to the Independence School Sector.  From penalties being assessed to tax exempt organizations themselves to the disappearance of some popular benefit perks will be discussed.  There will be plenty of time for questions and answers as two top tax exempt tax professionals from RSM from New York City and Washington, D.C. are present to discuss the pending and in some respects alarming proposed law changes.
