This event, organized by the NYSAIS Diversity Committee,  is open to people of color employed in any role in independent schools.

Following a reading of selected essays from his new book, Here for It: Or, How to Save Your Soul in America, acclaimed author and pop culture commentator R. Eric Thomas will be in dialogue with Priscilla Morales, current associate head of Eric’s alma mater, The Park School of Baltimore.

Schedule:

5:00-6:00 - Reading from R. Eric Thomas and Talkback with Priscilla Morales

6:00-6:30 - Breakout rooms for participant discussions

We would like to encourage schools registering for the NYSAIS Faculty, Staff, and Administrators of Color Gathering, featuring R. Eric Thomas and Priscilla Morales to purchase R. Eric Thomas’s book (Here for It: Or, How to Save Your Soul in America; Essays) for each attendee you are registering.

Here are some recommendations on where to purchase, beyond the usual reimbursement/Amazon routes you may already be using:

For print books, if your favorite local bookstore is not able to fulfill an order, you can still support independent bookstores by ordering from bookshop.org. They also have an e-book option.

For audiobooks, read by the author himself, an alternative to Audible is libro.fm, which also supports independent bookstores of your choosing.
