NYSAIS-Now - Distance Teaching and Learning Series

In response to the current need for teachers to learn and share successful techniques to promote distance learning, NYSAIS has launched a Distance Teaching and Learning Series of eSeminars that focus on the needs of children across the N-12 spectrum. eSeminars in this series are currenty free for NYSAIS members. The non-member rate is $50.

Hassan Wilson, Assistant Head of Upper School, Friends Seminary

Years ago, when Hassan Wilson was approached by the Hybrid Learning Consortium (soon to be renamed Constellation Learning) to design an online science class, he was skeptical. However, after support from the organization, Hassan developed a process for offering science instruction online.

Join Hassan Wilson as he describes a process for hacking science instruction through distance learning. In this eSeminar, he will outline “hacks” for

  • content delivery
  • engaging students through the scientific process
  • class interactions
  • assessments. 

Audience: 5-12, all science disciplines

Hassan Wilson is currently the Assistant Head of Upper School at Friends Seminary, after a long tenure as Science Department Head. For the last three years, he has also been Friends Seminary’s Liaison with the Hybrid Learning Consortium, a role in which he supported students in their online classes. Hassan co-teaches an online professional development course about standards-based grading and has received multiple awards for his work with blended, flipped and online learning, including being recognized as a top 50 innovator worldwide by the FLGI.
