Capstone programs embracing digital learning - eSeminar

Leaders: Seth O'Bryan, Jon Calos

Target Audience: Capstone educators, grades 8-12

'Looking to discuss and learn about plans and strategies for the public presentation component to your capstone program? Seth O'Bryan, member of the national capstone consortium, will present what Harley School's capstone program has done to adjust to digital learning. A significant chunk of the webinar will be peer sharing plans for presentation and strategies for how best to support students. Resources from the national capstone consortium for continued dialogue and professional development will be shared.

Presenters:

Jon Calos is a founding member of the National Capstone Consortium and works at Emma Willard School, where he is the director of a capstone program called Signature (EWSsignature.wordpress.com). Jon has run capstone courses for 15 years, he successfully managed a national summit in Boston during the summer of 2019, and he has consulted on capstones. Jon is an enthusiastic capstone fan and loves developing other programs of any form. He has also co-directed the NYSAIS Beginning Teachers Institute for many years.

Seth O’Bryan is the co-coordinator of the fairly new capstone program at Harley.  At Harley, he is the director of the Commons, a facility with programs devoted to explorations in sustainability and student leadership.  Seth and the Commons team aims to expand their capstone program and learn more about creating authentic and experiential-based curriculum that leave a lasting impact on student learning.
