Student Wellness in Covid-19 - Where are we now?

Christina Young, Middle and Upper School Director of Student Life at Riverdale Country School

Target Audience: MS/US faculty, advisors, health and wellness directors and counselors

As we approach two months of physical distancing and remote learning, our students’ social emotional needs are evolving. Zoom exhaustion, looming uncertainty, and summer cancellations are taking a toll on all of us. Social isolation and uncertainty about the fall is having an even greater impact on adolescents. In this session, we’ll discuss current challenges and strategies to support our students’ wellbeing and our school community in the final weeks of remote learning and the transition into summer.

Christina Young (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board Certified Coach. As Middle and Upper School Director of Student Life at Riverdale Country School, she chairs the counseling and health departments and oversees the performance coaching professional learning program for faculty. Christina is an instructor for the Klingenstein Center at Teachers College, Columbia University where she co-teaches the course “How People Learn: Implications for Leadership” and she has a private practice as a life coach at Hallowell Center NYC. Christina holds a M.S.Ed in Counseling and she’s a doctoral student in Adult Learning & Leadership at Teachers College.
