Join a network of teachers from across New York State for a hands-on exploration of climate change education best practices at North Country School’s spectacular Round Lake Campus.

Summer Institute for NYS Teachers: Empowering Students for Climate Resilience

July 15 - 18, 2019

Open to adults in the field of education

Join a network of teachers from across New York State for a hands-on exploration of climate change education best practices at North Country School’s spectacular Round Lake Campus. This experience includes field trips, cutting-edge climate science, planning time, exposure to a suite of climate education resources, and content aligning to NYS Science Learning Standards. Content is best suited for middle and high school teachers across all disciplines, and teachers are strongly encouraged to attend in teams from their district. Residential and non-residential options available.

Cost

  • Residential: $150, includes meals and onsite lodging in the RockE House
  • Residential: $125, includes meals, bring your own tent and sleeping bag
  • Non-Residential: $100, tuition only, lodging and some meals on your own
  • Eligible for Continuing Education credit
  • Limited scholarships available – please click here to complete a scholarship application. Scholarship deadline is March 1, 2019.

 

Lodging & Meals

All meals will be provided by the Round Lake Campus who works to source local, organic, and sustainably produced menu items. Many ingredients are sourced from North Country School’s farm. Please be sure to indicate any dietary restrictions or preferences in the registration form.

 

On-site Lodging

Round Lake Campus RockE House: The full registration fee of $150 includes lodging in the RockE House, our home base for the program. The RockE house has beautiful, comfortable shared bunk rooms with shared bathrooms. Bunk rooms sleep 3-5 people and are equipped with linens, blankets, a pillow, and a towel. Rooms will be divided by gender and teachers may indicate on the registration form if they would like to share a room with anyone specific. There are 4 shared bathrooms throughout the house with at least 1 on each floor. Please click here for photos of the property. 

Tenting: You are welcome to bring your own tent, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad to tent onsite. The Round Lake Campus has a large, scenic lawn with easy access to bathrooms in the RockE House. The registration fee with a tenting option is $125.
