Teach21 Free Summer Workshop: Art and Creativity at a Distance

Date: Monday - June 15, 2020
Time: 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM
This summer, educators will be able to join Teach21 from anywhere! We have moved our professional development program online and are pleased to offer all workshops for free this summer, in response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Check out the offerings at Teach21 Virtual Summer Session! All workshops are taught by School at Columbia University faculty and staff.

Struggling with screen time? How do you foster creativity when you aren’t in the studio? In this workshop, we will be presenting on different strategies and our own experiences with teaching Visual Art from a distance. From using household items to create new works of art, to finding ways of integration via Zoom sessions, we will share challenges and successes in providing creative outlets for our students during this time. For classroom teachers searching for more hands-on experience, this quick session will provide concrete ways to offer new learning experiences for students to support their learning in their homerooms.

Instructors: Michelle Lee and Yoshiko Maruiwa
