On-Site Registration:

If you were unable to pre-register before the deadline, come to the Job Fair host school on the day of the Job Fair and register on-site.

  • Arrive at the school and register “on-site” (See schedule below).
  • Bring your résumé (PDF or Microsoft Word, 2-page maximum) on a flash drive saved as LastName,FirstName.pdf or .doc to be uploaded to the on-line database on Saturday.
  • Bring at least 40 copies of your résumé (85 schools are expected to attend NYC event / 15 schools are expected to attend Mid-Hudson event).
  • Complete the registration form and submit 1 copy of your résumé to complete the on-site registration process.
  • Proceed with the rest of the schedule as outlined in the candidate folder.
  • There is NO FEE for candidates.
  • A BA or BS by September 2020 is required to attend.
  • Certification is NOT required and college seniors are encouraged to attend.

On the day of the Job Fair

  • Bring your résumé (pdf or Microsoft word, 2-page maximum) on a flash drive saved as LastName,FirstName.pdf or .doc to be uploaded to the on-line database on Saturday.
  • Bring at least 40 copies of your résumé (85 schools are expected to attend NYC event / 15 schools are expected to attend Mid-Hudson event).
  • Attend a 90-minute Orientation Seminar facilitated by current independent school educators. Space is on a first-come, first served basis so there is a possibility there may not be adequate space to accommodate all interested candidates.
  • Following the seminars, you may either exit the building to have lunch at one of the nearby eateries, drop-in on the Résumé Writing Clinic and/or the People of Color in Independent Schools of NY (POCIS-NY) Networking Room. 
  • Please note: There is limited space provided for candidates who bring their own lunch.
  • An updated schedule of the day will also be provided in your candidate folder.

Accessing Job Postings

  • Candidates can access job postings at any time at the NYSAIS website under Career Center > Job Postings. This information is posted directly by the schools and is updated regularly.
  • Candidates will have also have access to the Electronic Job Fair Job Board before and during the Job Fair where the most current anticipated vacancies are announced.
  • On-site, there will be a physical bulletin board with job postings.
  • Coat check will be available.
  • There is NO FEE for candidates.
  • The only requirement to attend is a BA or BS by September 2020.
  • Certification is NOT required and college seniors are encouraged to attend.

Frequently Asked Questions
1.    Can you forward a list of the anticipated vacancies available?

Electronic Job Fair Job Board access instructions will be sent to pre-registered candidates about one week before the event. This is a separate database from the general job postings on the NYSAIS website. Only NYSAIS member schools may post on the general listing. The Electronic Job Fair Job Board includes postings from all schools attending the event, which does include non-NYSAIS Independent Schools.

Candidates can access general (NYSAIS Member School) job postings at any time at the NYSAIS website under Career Center then Job Postings. Or, can look directly on NYSAIS member school sites for employment or career opportunities. This information is posted directly by the schools and is updated regularly.

On-site, there will be a physical bulletin board with job postings.

2.    Can someone who hasn’t pre-registered still attend and register on-site? Yes, please follow the instructions above.

3.    What if I am unable to attend the Job Fair from 9:00-2:00 pm?
The candidate schedule is meant as a guideline to provide you with as much information to plan your day.  All of the events that take place during the morning are optional. Please come to the Job Fair at the time you are able to attend keeping in mind that meeting and networking with school representatives takes place from 11 am (if a pre-registered candidate) or Noon (if on-site registered candidate) until 2 pm.

Candidates of Color Connect 2020

Navigating Career Opportunities in Independent Schools The Candidates of Color Connect programs were designed to support educators of color exploring career opportunities within independent schools. Participants can expect to hear personal anecdotes and advice from a panel of school professionals and POCIS-NY leaders. Candidates will also learn the best ways to navigate and prepare for the independent school hiring process, from the point of contact, to interviews and demo lessons. Candidates will also learn about the upcoming NYSAIS Job Fairs to Promote Diversity. We suggest you pre-register for the Job Fairs to Promote Diversity AFTER you attend the Candidates of Color Connect at EITHER location.
