International School of Brooklyn (ISB) is an independent, non-profit school that is known for its innovative and robust Nursery–8th Grade French and Spanish language immersion program and International Baccalaureate curriculum. ISB seeks a Full Time First Grade Head French Teacher for the 2020-2021 School Year
Candidates should be able to use their expertise in elementary education to confidently lead a classroom. Teachers at ISB are expected to work collaboratively in lesson planning to implement a strong and engaging PYP curriculum. Candidates should be native French speakers, hold a degree in Education, be familiar with the French National Program and have at least two years of head teaching experience in a Lower School setting.
Qualification requirements:
Candidates should enjoy creating learning experiences designed to nurture the development of the whole child in a strong collaborative work environment. Ideal candidates will enjoy using a wide array of resources to build rich learning experiences while integrating multiple approaches to ensure differentiation. Experience working with elementary aged children with an ability to display effective classroom management is important in this role.
Duties include teaching all subject areas in an interdisciplinary manner: reading, writing, social studies and math in French. Teachers in this role should enjoy working closely with a support team within the classroom and have excellent communication skills. Knowledge of PYP and experience in a language immersion program is a plus.
