Nearly 400 students ages three to 14 attend our school with a range of learning differences, from Attention Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) to speech, language, and reading delays such as dyslexia. With more than 50 years of experience in special education and a dedication to continuous improvement, Gaynor has the expertise to help children break down barriers to learning, build self-esteem, and realize academic success.

Opportunity - Classroom Monitor (Temporary position - ends June 16, 2022)

Job Overview:

Classroom Monitor will assist the Head Teacher by providing in-person classroom support during instructional periods. Will support the classroom (non-teaching duties) and responsible for ensuring students remain on task during instructional periods. Will provide direction and assistance to students in the event of an emergency. 


Essential Functions: 

  • Ensures students are in their seats and ready to begin class

  • Seeks guidance from Head Teacher on managing classroom questions or concerns

  • Monitors students as they work remotely

  • Circulates throughout the classroom to ensure students are on task

  • Assists students with tech support and troubleshooting

  • Assists students with the engagement of remote teacher

  • Keeps students on task and working quietly

  • Assists students with group activities and manipulatives

  • Gives students 5 minute warnings towards the end of class

  • Assists students with packing up safely 

  • Assists students during fire and lockdown drills

  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications & Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Strong communication and organizational skills (both written and verbal)

  • Ability to be flexible to adjust with classroom instruction

  • Sets a respectful and positive tone in the classroom

  • Ability to to work independently to complete assigned tasks

  • Some computer skills, specifically Google Workspace

  • Interest in education a plus
