Join Us at the Beautiful All-Inclusive Carey Conference Center, in Rensselaerville, NY. The Carey Conference Center is located less than 30 miles southwest of Albany and is easily accessible by car, train, bus or plane. Registration includes program tuition, housing + meals for three nights.

Helena Curtain, Ph. D. is an internationally known expert on second language teaching methodology, curriculum development, and bilingual education who has worked as a language educator at all levels. She is the co-author of Languages and Learners:  Making the Match which has been translated into Chinese. She has received several national and regional awards and has authored numerous articles dealing with second language instruction. She served as Foreign Language Curriculum Specialist for the Milwaukee Public Schools for many years and in that capacity coordinated and supervised K-12 foreign language, immersion and ESOL programs. She served as associate professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and directed the Foreign Language and ESOL teacher preparation programs. She has broad experience working with schools and school districts, teaching and conducting workshops throughout the United States and internationally in thirty-nine countries.

Lori Langer de Ramirez, Ed.D. has presented workshops, staff development trainings, and keynote addresses at local, regional and national conferences and in schools throughout the United States and in international schools around the world. She is the author of books on multicultural education, as well as several Spanish-language books and texts. Her website ( offers didactic materials for teaching Chinese, English, French, and, Spanish. She served as a teacher of Spanish, French and ESL, an Adjunct Professor in Curriculum and Teaching at Teachers College, Columbia University, and is currently the Director of World and Classical Languages & Global Language Initiatives at the Dalton School in New York City.


  • The Conference Center is about 3.5 hours by car from New York City. Click here for directions
  • By train, take Amtrak to Albany/Rensselaerville. Plan to arrive in Albany at around 1:00 pm on the first day, departing at around 2:00 pm on the closing day.
  • By plane, Carey is not far from Albany International Airpost.
  • To arrange for transportation from the train station or airport to the Conference Center (about 1 hour), call 1-518-797-5100 at least 7 days before your arrival. Cabs are not available at the station, so you must make these arrangements in advance. CLICK HERE for Carey Center Transportation form, which must be submitted by email no later than Monday, June 10, 2019. More information will be sent directly to registrants. Register Here.  Fee includes room, board, and all materials. (single rooms as available. We may need to double up if space runs short. We appreciate your flexibility) The fee is all inclusive (room and board), with wine/beer in the evening.

Early Registration discount of $100 will apply before May 1, 2019

Late registration fee of $100 will apply after June 1, 2019.
