The New York State Association of Independent Schools (the “Association”) General Code of
Conduct (the “Code”) is intended to provide individuals, organizations, vendors and volunteers
(each, a “Participant”) and their duly authorized representatives or agents, as applicable (each, a
“Representative” and together with the Participant, the “Persons”)) with a set of best practices
and guidelines with which Persons agree to adhere to when attending, participating in,
volunteering at or providing services at events, conferences, meetings, lectures, trainings and
activities sponsored by the Association (collectively, the “Association-Sponsored Events” and
each an “Association-Sponsored Event”). Each Person is required to comply with this Code of
Conduct during the entirety of any and all Association-Sponsored Event.
This Code of Conduct represents a commitment by the Association and such Persons to follow
the ethical standards and best practices evidenced by this Code of Conduct at all times,
including, but not limited to: behaving with common courtesy and civility; conducting
themselves in a businesslike, ethical and appropriate manner; and not engaging in or facilitating
any discriminatory or harassing behavior directed toward any Association staff, officer, director,
member, meeting attendee, exhibitor, other Persons, advertiser, sponsor, supplier, contractor or
others in the context of activities relating to the Association.
The following categories and examples of unacceptable behavior are subject to removal from the
Association-Sponsored Event (now or in the future), in the sole discretion of the Association. The
Association reserves the right to identify other behaviors not listed below.
Unacceptable personal misconduct is defined as:
Disruption shall be defined as creating noise or other disturbances that disrupt Association-
Sponsored Events, or that disrupt either Persons or other individuals at the venue of an Association-
Sponsored Events.
For the purposes of the application of this Code, controlled substances shall be defined as:
