Each of these institutes is open to all teachers at their respective level, with a goal toward becoming a better teacher through continuous improvement.

  • Justice, Equity & Diversity Institute (JEDI) is a year-long program to equip its participants to advance the work of justice, equity, and diversity in schools.
  • Emerging Leaders Institute (ELI) is aimed at helping burgeoning leaders from NYSAIS schools. This two-year cohort program is designed to meet the demands of today’s emerging independent school leaders by fostering individual growth while exposing participants to the best examples of leadership in today’s schools.
  • Divisional Leadership Institute (DLI) serves first-year division heads/directors as they begin their roles leading faculty and students.

NYSAIS utilizes the wealth of experience of our member schools’ respective faculties to staff our various institutes. Educators are motivated to serve through their interest and expertise in the topics of the institutes that we offer.

Participation on the staff of a NYSAIS institute includes occasional meetings for planning prior to the institute, as well as full participation and leadership during the institute. These responsibilities may vary, depending upon the nature and duration of the institute. Those who would like more information and/or are interested in serving on the staff of one of our institutes should contact Worokya Duncan, Associate Director for Professional Learning, marcy@nysais.org.
