Professional Learning

NYSAIS organizes conferences, workshops, institutes, and e-learning for teachers, school heads, trustees, assistant and division heads, business and financial managers, and administrators. A complete list of these, along with details and online registration, can be found in our Calendar of NYSAIS Events.

Professional Learning Mission: Cognizant of the needs of all member schools, the NYSAIS Professional Learning Mission is to build and sustain a vibrant, state-wide professional development network. By offering relevant, timely, engaging professional development opportunities, NYSAIS strives to create a culture of professional growth that acts as the foundation for teaching, learning, and collaboration in and between member schools.

NYSAIS designs programs that include two Beginning Teachers Institutes each fall, an Experienced Teachers Institute in the winter, as well as many many other institutes, symposia, workshops, and conferences for teachers and administrators. Various collaborative efforts with neighboring state associations of independent schools add depth to the program. The Directors of Professional Learning, along with many volunteer planning committees, work to interpret the needs of NYSAIS professionals, providing timely opportunities for education and networking.

We welcome workshop proposals: NYSAIS workshops are led by experts in the field. Some of those experts teach in our own schools, and NYSAIS welcomes workshop proposals by teachers and administrators. This is a wonderful opportunity to broaden your own professional growth and leadership. NYSAIS expects presenters, speakers, and facilitators to uphold NYSAIS’ standards of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Using this form, please submit your idea for a workshop. Our calendar is quite flexible and we will accommodate as many appropriate proposals as possible.
